Job Description:

This position is responsible for the daily operation of the mechanic shop, the supervision of mechanic shop employees and for directing the work in an efficient and productive manner to ensure quality repair work on customer vehicles.

Job Responsibilities:

-Monitor and direct staff to ensure high level of quality, timeliness and the accuracy of repair work performed. Oversee completion of repair order forms for accuracy.
-Approve and forward bills to the appropriate personnel to ensure accurate and timely billing.
-Interact and cooperate with Recon Manager to resolve recon and/or repair problems.
-Oversee maintenance and protection of shop equipment and ensure a safe work environment by explaining, monitoring and enforcing required Auction safety procedures and OSHA requirements to all mechanic shop employees.
-Under the direction of the manager purchase equipment, materials, parts and supplies for the Mechanic Shop.
-Supervise and direct the work of mechanic shop employees by determining work procedures, preparing work schedules, expediting the workflow, assigning duties and examining work for accuracy and conformance to policies and procedures.
-Assist manager in counseling and disciplining employees as necessary, monitoring and evaluating employee job performance, and conducting performance appraisals.
Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
-May be required to work overtime (more than 40 hours per week) as business needs dictate.

Qualifications:

 

 

-High School Diploma or equivalent required.
-3-5 years experience as a mechanic or equivalent vehicle repair experience required.
-Strong communication and interaction skills required. Competent supervisory and excellent organizational skills required. Valid Drivers License and good driving record required.
-Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
-ASE certification automotive body repair. Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations preferred.
-Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb. Medium strength.
-Ability to lift 1-30 pounds (light hand tools, etc.) Manual dexterity, repetitive motion tasks. Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts hazard, electrical shock hazard, fumes/odors and toxic or caustic chemicals. Moderate noise level.
